My name is Amber Franklin, and I love the process of teaching and learning. I have always loved to learn, which led me into the profession of teaching. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular and Cellular Biology, with a Master's Degree in Education. For several years, I was a middle school science teacher and am now a mother of two, and my background in education led me to be interested in infant sleep research. When I was pregnant with my first, I listened to moms who were not getting adequate sleep themselves because their babies were not sleeping. They were at a loss and didn't know what to do. I promised myself that I would research all I could to make the best decisions regarding my own children's sleeping habits. I read all the books, listened to all the advice, and looked into all the methods. From my reading and from my own experience, I have developed a series of techniques to assist new parents in teaching their children how to sleep.
Over the last few years, I have helped numerous friends and family members teach their newborn babies how to sleep, and how to get on a consistent schedule. As I helped each one, I realized that not all babies are the same. One method may work for one baby, but not another. It was then that I decided to become an Infant Sleep Consultant. I want mothers to know that my methods can help them develop the ability and confidence to teach their babies to sleep.
All new mothers start out with the best of intentions, but often become frustrated when their child does not fall into a pattern of sleep easily. She assumes that her baby will figure it out sooner or later. What she doesn't realize is that sleep is something a baby needs to be taught. Babies need to be gently guided into a schedule, and night-time sleep needs to be reinforced.
If you find that you are a mother who is struggling with a baby who won't sleep, please contact me. I will answer your questions, give you advice, and help you teach your child to sleep.
